Adult HME Filter
The Adult Heat and Moisture Exchanger Filter (HMEF) is a passive humidification device designed for use in mechanically ventilated patients. It not only conserves heat and moisture from exhaled air but also incorporates a high-efficiency microbial filter, ensuring both airway humidity control and infection prevention.
HMEFs are typically used in “dry circuits,” providing an alternative to active (wet) humidification systems. They help maintain airway humidity, reduce the risk of mucus plugging, and prevent complications such as endotracheal tube (ETT) occlusion.
Key Features:
- Dual Function: Combines heat and moisture exchange with a microbiological filter for enhanced patient safety
- Passive Humidification: Maintains moisture and warmth in respiratory gases without active heating systems
- Infection Control: Integrated filter helps block airborne bacteria and viruses
- Prevents Mucosal Drying: Minimizes risks such as mucus plugging and ETT obstruction
- Optimized for Adult Use: Suitable for adult patients under mechanical ventilation
- Reliable & Efficient: Designed to ensure consistent humidification and filtration throughout use
